Designing our Jonah-man’s bedroom was such a fun task. Jonah has the biggest, kind heart and is constantly looking for ways to brighten everyone’s lives around him. He’s also extremely generous and so I wanted to give him a space of his own that he could enjoy and play creatively in.
When putting his room together after moving into our house two years ago, I mixed old and new to create his room. He was just transitioning into a big boy bed when we moved in so we ditched his crib and put together this grey twin bed. I fell in love with this blue stripe bedding from Pottery Barn kids. It is incredibly soft and the perfect, cozy thickness.
His room is not a big space but a great size to fit the essentials. We started off with his bed against the wall and after a year moved it to the center of the room to give him play space on either side of it. Jonah is a little fish and loves the water, whether swimming in a pool or in the ocean. His baby nursery was nautical themed and so I carried this over as his room grew up.
I decided to keep his walls white and continue with the light, bright, beachy theme. I had debated doing a grey accent wall but in the end I am happy I decided to keep them white. The navy curtains and white accent, storage table are both from Ikea. The overstuffed, leather chair was a Craigslist find, after I realized I needed another armchair when our previous one needed to be used in the nursery. To me, it is so important to have a spot to snuggle up and read in, in every room!
In my opinion, the most successful rooms are the ones that are a mix of well-loved sentimental pieces, in a fresh, newly designed space. I loved creating this room for our sweet boy and I hope it will be a place he loves and finds relaxing for years to come! I will tag all room sources over on the LIKEtoKNOW.it app.
